Lisa Kelly

Lisa Kelly is a transgender woman, who moved to York in 2011, in order to transition from male away from those who bullied her throughout her life in the small town in which she lived.

During her transition she continued to suffer from abuse but found solace in throwing herself into working for other people who were suffering from discrimination, bullying and discrimination.

Lisa is co-chair of two charities in York, the York LGBT Forum and York LGBT History Month. She is a strong advocate for diversity and equality for everyone.

From her own experiences she converted her memoirs into a book, Becoming Lisa, in the hope that it may help others to better understand transgender people and the affect discrimination and bullying has on people.

Lisa is also an accomplished public speaker, often giving talks to businesses and Universities on LGBT, equality and diversity issues.
