2pm – 3pm –  We have our usual mix of great music all with an LGBT link to them and the topic of the day is LGBT History Month with Lisa’s special guest Jake Furby (Jake is BACK, Jake is Back…). This is the LGBT Hour!

3pm-4pm –  This week on What Rock? Tune in at 3 for Alex Fisher and Sam Booth, looking back on their personal music highlights from 2018. Tune into find out “What Rocked?”

4pm-5pm –  The 1980’s are back with Lisa Kelly behind the wheel! Lots of hits all from the 1980’s but what month were all these top 10’s in the charts?

5pm – 6pm – Ask York 4: City Centre Regeneration & Urban Renewal

With Panel:

  • Pete Kilbane – Chair
  • Imelda Havers – Independent Regeneration Consultant
  • David Dunning – News Editor at Minster FM
  • Cllr. Ashley Mason – Lib Dem
  • Phil Pinder – York Retail Forum

Ask York 4 focused on City Centre Regeneration and there were some fantastic questions and great debate form both the live studio audience and the panel.

Should there be a cross party city summit to tackle #York’s issues on #regeneration and behaviour?  Is there a lack of leadership in @CityofYork on this?

Discussion moves on pedestrianisation of #York – do you think having more #footstreets would be a good thing for the future of the city?

Would a tourist tax help the regeneration of #York asks @GSwinburn? @imeldahavers says as a resident she has no problem with #tourists but stag & hen parties are a strain on resources and we should focus on that.

Would a tourist tax make #York a pariah city or a leader? Views from the floor at #AskYork are largely in favour; lively debate now happening about stag and hen parties!

Phil Pinder of @YorkRetailForum and the other panelists agree that business rates are archaic and should be abolished. @imeldahavers says they are the bane of retailers’ lives.

What can we do with the large empty shops and could they house indoor markets? Phil Pinder of @YorkRetailForum is in favour; @daviddunninguk says demographics have changed; maybe city-centre shops have had their day & focus should be on food/drink/entertainment?

Future of the old BHS centre revealed!

Final question for #AskYork is about #recycling: questioner asks why #York doesn’t have segregated bins in the city centre – the state of #York is an embarrassment!

Great questions and informative answers. This is a not to be missed show for anybody that cares about the future of our city!

6pm – 7pm –   Information Takeaway: Juliet’s  first show of 2019 was so good that we want to play it again – in case anyone missed it! This episode tackles the issues around home and school education – are there valid reasons for taking your child out of school? Can schools support home schooling more proactively to blend home and school education? Do we need a shake up in our education system and different ways of thinking in the modern age? We are joined by Izzy Renkin-Holliway who is training to be a teacher and was home-schooled herself and get the point of view of parents plus our usual great music!

7pm-8pm  – This week Breaking York takes on a new time and a new shape. We’ll have our usual mix of original music from local bands/artists around Yorkshire with information about where these great recordings happened, plus a couple of new twists. In the first show  of 2019 we’ll be playing a song from Colin Cutler – and we’ll be featuring Colin’s work for two shows before having a live special in the studio and chatting about his songs and where people can hear him play etc. For other twists and turns you’ll have to tune in.

8pm-9pm –   Soul Funktion returns in a new slot for the first show of the New Year. With Dave Johnson having just returned from his annual pilgrimage at the ‘Luxury Soul Weekend’ in Blackpool he will be paying homage to the event playing a collection of modern soul music from 2000 up to the present day. Therefore sit back and enjoy some classic modern soul gems

9pm-10pm – Beats’n’Pieces with Jonah Hebron. This week it’s the best of British, north to south, grime to boombap – think Dirty Dike, think slowthai, think Little Simz

10pm – 11pm –  “Always Something There To Remind Me… The Look of Burt Bacharach!!”… One (way, way too short) hour dedicated to The MORpoptastic King of MORpop on The Late Mr Judge To You!

Ready for you From Midday till 10pm. Tune in!

12pm – 1pm – Starting the day with Breaking York Special with Graham Blueskies . Tadcaster based singer/songwriter Bryony Drake is coming to the Two Rivers Radio broadcast lounge to play tracks from her new as yet unreleased EP plus a few extras.

Bryony’s vocal style is unique – which is difficult to achieve when there are so many great vocalists out there. Her penchant for wrapping the emotional conundrum inside a dystopian enigma leaves your ears burning with a mixture of why me and a desire to stop the world and fix it.
You’ll fall in love with the characters in her songs as they wrench at your heart strings and stir your compassion for an artist whose talent is under appreciated – still unsigned Bryony is a vocal ruby surrounded by lyrical diamonds set in 18 carat gold.

1pm – 2pm – On An Alright Show this month to round up 2018, Kieran will be looking at possible contenders for “Album Of The Year 2018”

2pm – 3pm –  LGBT Hour with Lisa Kelly returns with a festive cracker, a Christmas special that is music orientated and each song having an LGBT link. Mixed in with some all time top festive favorites are some rather less well known but great Christmas songs to get you right into the festive spirit and ready for Santa. Can you guess the #LGBT link to all the songs?

3pm-4pm –  Yorkshire! This week (and hopefully without city-wide power cuts!) Sam and Alex are keeping it local with a focus on rock bands of all types from Yorkshire, hopefully in an effort to tune you into your new local favorite band! Tune in to What Rock?

4pm-5pm – Beats’n’Pieces with Jonah Hebron. Plenty of the 90s, plenty of New York, plenty of beats. Tune in and drop out.

5pm – 6pm – Songs & Stories for a Winter’s Night: Do you ‘welcome the nights that double delights?’ Or doth ‘Winter waken all thy cares?’ Why does Santa ride in a sled driven by reindeer? Do you prefer Medieval carols or caroles? And what on earth is a Christmas goat?!! Winter is one of Genevieve’s favorite times of year, and the best time to gather together with those we hold dear, to listen to stories & share in music! So gather together & let us make merry as we take a look at a few ways & whys of traditional winter celebrations around the world & Genevieve will share a few of her favorite stories with you to help ‘Drive The Cold Winter Away.’

Tune in to Crossing Borders!

6pm – 8pm –  Bob Horton has thus far spent the Weirdness attempting to answer some of life’s biggest questions. This time, he’s going to ask them. To his guests. They won’t enjoy this, but they might win prizes.
